Petra Lindhout

For optimal performance, Petra seeks her relaxation in music. In her spare time, she enjoys taking up the violin: an instrument that requires good listening, perseverance and accuracy. These qualities also benefit her clients.

Petra specializes in environmental law (spatial planning, environment, water and nature) and provides companies with advice and assistance in disputes about environmental plans, land exploitation, activities and permits and enforcement. It also does construction law cases. In other words, everything concerning changes in the physical living and working environment. Petra’s approach to her clients is to find lasting solutions. She litigates only when there really is no other way.

Petra completed her law degree at the University of Amsterdam in 2004. Afterwards, she worked as a lawyer for companies and then as a lawyer for the government. So she has been on all sides of the table. After attending the postgraduate specialization course Environment and Spatial Planning (Grotius) in 2010, she completed her dissertation at Utrecht University in 2015. Petra is also associated as an associate at the Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law at Utrecht University and is regularly asked for guest lectures at universities and colleges. She has been writing for the jurisprudence section of the specialist journal Milieu & Recht (Kluwer) for many years.

Main area of law:

– Environmental law

Subarea of law:

– Administrative law

– Water law

Pursuant to this registration, she is required to obtain ten training points in each registered main area of law each calendar year according to the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
