Tessa has been working at De Haij & Van der Wende advocaten since 2019, where she focuses on employment law and privacy law. Her clients are mainly HR or administrative staff, managers, directors, executives, and self-employed professionals (‘ZZP’).

Tessa successfully completed her law studies at both Erasmus University and the University of Amsterdam. Her academic path led her to master's degrees in labor law and health law. Tessa graduated in labor law with a thesis on “the role of the works council and other representative bodies during reorganizations” and in health law with a thesis on medical disciplinary law. She also attended a Summer School in European Private Law at the University of Salzburg. This international experience has given her a deeper insight into the complex aspects of European private law, which distinguishes her as a lawyer with a broad vision.

In 2024, Tessa completed the Postgraduate Course in Labor Law (PALA) at the University of Amsterdam. This course is intended for lawyers and attorneys with several years of work experience in labor law. The course days are taught by professors and labor law attorneys/lecturers from across the country. The specialist knowledge proves to be directly applicable in practice. This enables her to provide our firm's clients with up-to-date employment law advice even more quickly.

Outside the courtroom, Tessa plays in the Feijenoord 1 trim team at the Feijenoord Hockey Club, of which our firm is also a proud sponsor. Her love for the sport goes beyond just participating, as Tessa is also chair of the disciplinary committee and a member of the ‘Club van 100’. The ‘Club van 100’ facilitates concrete projects, such as extra technical training or other visible quality improvements. Together with her colleague Dennis Oud, she is affiliated with Duurzaam Capelle and the Green Business Club Fascinatio, where De Haij & Van der Wende and other companies are the driving force behind sustainable and circular entrepreneurship in the Capelle region. Finally, Tessa is a member of the Association of Young Employment Lawyers (VJAA), the Association of Employment Lawyers Netherlands (VAAN), and the Association of Rotterdam Employment Lawyers (VRAA).

Based on this registration, she is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar Association.

In addition, she also takes annual courses in privacy law and general contract law.
